Advising and Early Registration Checklist
- Prior to contacting your CIS advisor you have to:
1.1 Identify which courses you need to take towards graduation. You will find this information at the goldenrod colored “Degree Requirements Sheet” in your record. Ask the City College staff to make a copy for you.
1.2 Identify which courses we offer during this coming semester. You will find this information at the published “Course Reference Guide” also available at http://citycollege.loyno.edu/ or on LORA
1.3 Based on 1.1, 1.2 and your personal constraints make an initial decision on the courses you would like to enroll.
1.4 Identify the prerequisites for each course that you would like to enroll. You will find this information online in the Undergraduate Bulletin (also the short, thick published book that describes all the programs at Loyola). Additionally, you can consult the online Course Architecture for the prerequisites CIS courses. Make sure you have satisfied each prerequisite or are currently enrolled in it.
1.5 Create your final list of courses you would like to register and fill out the “Course Request Form.”
- During your advising appointment:
2.1 Be on time at your appointment.
2.2 Bring your “Course Request Form”.
2.2 Bring your folder from the City College Office.
- After your advisor signs your “Course Request Form”:
3.1 Use LORA on the web to actually pre-register for the following term. Information on how to use LORA can be found at the published “Course Reference Guide.”
