Computer Information Science

The Department of Computer Information Science offers course of study leading to a Minor and a Major in Computer Information Science and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Computer Information Systems. The Department prepares students for positions as applications programmers, systems analysts, and related information systems professionals. The course of study is more technical than a management information systems program in a business school and more applications oriented than a computer science program. The curriculum is based on the AITP (Association for Information Technology Professionals) and the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) models, which emphasize the Software Development Life Cycle. Students learn how to develop software to meet business needs and to translate the customer's needs into technical solutions.
